About

Bienestado is one of those beautiful Spanish words that translate directly to and from English.

Bien estado equates to “a good state” as in a good or well state of being. Bienestado would translate to wellness. Bienestar would translate to well being. Bien is the word “well” or “good.” Estar is the word “to be.”

Those statements are what this blog is about. Since the blogging guide is entitling this “ABOUT” post, “About Yourself” I am complying by beginning with some statements about the words well being and wellness as well as their Spanish translations bienestar and bienestado.

I am about those two words in either language.

I am a surprisingly healthy old man who has been and is still young yet with the advantage of being old but not too old to retain what has made being young and old extremely enjoyable for me and extremely beneficial (means “making good”) for you because I intend to share with you a great deal of information about well being.

When I say, “well being” I mean a well triune being — a trinity

It may or may not be coincidental that the psychologists and theologians define human beings, well or not, as being trinities. Quite handy really because many of the three things in the one world describe well their three counter parts in the other world.

  • Father, son, holy spirit
  • Id, ego, superego
  • Physical, spiritual, mental

I lived, expeditioned, and worked in many parts of the world. I am the everyman version of cosmopolitan and bon vivant. I speak four languages well and some others crudely. In my traveling days when someone asked where I was from, I would often reply, “I have a US passport, a German bank account, and a Spanish heart.”

My qualifications for this blog are as follows.

One, I am a double Gemini or at least if you read the astrological definition of a double Gemini you will, coincidentally or not, have read a good starter definition of me. My favorite guru, Alan Watts, said about astrology when asked if he believed in it, “Every thing affects everything else.”

Two, whether coincidentally or not, the execution of my life has been what one might expect of a gouble Gemini who came to revere Alan Watts.

I am foremost a philologist. I love words and languages and their ability to produce conveyable meaning. I am a writer. I love to live those words and exercise their constructive capacity.

I love movement. I am a poster child for the planet Mercury which rules Gemini and Virgo. It is about movement, language, communication, transportation. “The Word was made flesh.” “Greater things than these I do can you do too.”

I have been concerned with spiritual health since I first heard those verses.

I have been concerned with being responsible for my physiical health since I read the first book Adelle Davis published. I have been fond of Linus Pauling since I first saw his quirky smile.

I have dived the depths of many seas. I have climbed some rather high mountains and flown my paraglider from them or skied their slopes. I learned to fly airplanes in the Spanish desert. I did better on my Spanish written pilots license than I did in English on my US license.

I have never been bored. I am interested in everything I experience with my senses and the worlds I build in my head with what I experience outside it.

I want to share and discuss with you some information, considerations, and benefits from maintaining a priority stage for your personality to work out your well being, your bienstado.

Welcome to the well being blog, the bienestado blog.
